Textiles dress - Fire and Water
I needed to plan a final piece which I would be able complete in five hours as that was how long the exam lasted. My final design was based around the idea of mixing fire and water. I combined a lot of the concepts I had used and looked at during my project. I based my final piece around a corset which I brought to work into during the exam. I designed it so that flames rippled up the front, most with different techniques for example, prints or image transfer. I chose to chose big flames on the front because that is similar to how some carnival costumes are and I’d really been inspired by the boldness and brightness of them. The flames went up the should and joined on the shoulder with blue material i aimed to look like water rippling down a waterfall so the corset had a shoulder strap. I aimed to cover the rest of the corset in strips of material which needed been gathered and sewn down. I aimed for the gathered material to look like ripples in fire and water.
